You may have noticed that Extradimensional got an upgrade recently!

After sitting in beta for over a year, the newest version of Extradimensional has released. All of your existing bags and accounts continue to work (though please get in touch if something's not right), and there are several new features to mention.

  1. Treasuries
  2. Personal notes
  3. Markdown Support
  4. The bag info tab and user page
  5. Dark mode

Treasuries

The splashiest new feature (in my humble opinion) is the treasury tab. A feature requested since the beginning - this allows you to track the shared gold your party owns. In the treasury you'll see the customary Dungeons and Dragons denominations; copper, silver, gold, electrum, and platinum. Like everything else on Extradimensional, the treasury updates in real time, so you'll know right away as soon as somebody adds to the stash - or as soon as the wizard spends more money on parchment.

An example treasuries showing the input page, with textboxes for copper, silver, gold, electrum, and platinum.

Personal Notes

Are you a DM/GM who likes to give out magic items but not immediately reveal what they are until somebody identifies it? Or perhaps dole out some gems and paintings without disclosing their value until the players go to sell it? Or maybe even you're a player who has a special connection to an item in your backstory that other players don't yet know about?

An example personal note - there's a modal titled "Edit Personal note" with the main content "This painting is worth 500gp". The modal says the note was last updated today, and there's a button to delete the note.

Now you can add personal notes to items in your bag that only you can see! You must be signed in to make use of this, so if you don't yet have an account, create one today!

Markdown Support

The descriptions of items in your bags now supports Markdown! If you're not familiar with markdown, it's a "lightweight markup language for creating formatted text using a plain-text editor" according to Wikipedia.

An example of an item description written with markdown. It shows an excerpt from a Wand of Wonder with the description "The wand regains 1d6+1 charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the wand crumbles into dust and is destroyed. An exerpt from the wands roll table is included, with entries such as 01-05: You cast slow.

Basically it means you can add bold, italics, links, and tables to your items. Use *asterixes* for italics, **double asterixes** for bold text, [brackets](https://example.com\) for links, and the following for tables:

| Tables | Are | Made |
|------|-----|------|
| Using | Pipe | Characters |

You may notice that the built-in 5e items are formatted with markdown, so magic items now have roll tables built in!

The bag info tab and user page

There's a new tab in your bag - the info tab. It helps you identify who created the bag, how long it's been around for, and how many items are in it.

An example bag info tab, showing a table with the following information: Owner: Nobody!, number of items: 1, created on: 26/08/2023, last updated: 05/10/2024

In addition, there's now a user page with your statistics and a bio, if you choose to add one.

Dark mode

Extradimensional will now conform with your browser/devices settings with respect to dark mode, so if you prefer the cool-hacker experience you can switch your device to dark mode to get it!

That's all for today - please do get in touch if you notice any bugs or have any suggestions for future features!
